THE PROFIT MOTIVE
Demystifying publishing … or not
Two interesting articles chunk it down: Anna Genoese … and an earlier one by Denise Little
My Path: Purely mental (take that as you will

Very enlightening articles regarding profitability. Thanks for sharing, Loreth.
And while I know our generation likes the feel of a book in their hands & the idea of the written word on a tangible page, I still bet e-publishing is the wave of the future, especially for mass market. A slow one, albeit, but still the wave. The trickle effect of it will gather momentum and take over in the next few generations.
And it’s not such a bad idea. We old folks just have to get used to the idea of holding an E-reader — or whatever they’re called
And as long as the publishers share the money they save on printing and distribution with the authors, I have no problems going technical. Assuming I can get my techno gizmo to function properly.

Interesting stuff. I think although I LOVE a paper book in my hand, one day we will move to epubs being the common format and paper being for the very special books, photographs, etc. Recycling will become a real necessity, not just an option.

I blogged about ebooks vs. print and said that I thought it was the wave of the future. I believe I got hooted down on that one, but I still say that’s where its heading. Now, if only I can find me one of those readers – and I don’t mean on-line … I want to buy it in a store. :0

I see you are reading “Bear Attacks: Their Causes and Avoidance”. Mine just went back to the library. Forewarned is forearmed, right?
Loreth Says:
Meretta — after looking at the book again (becuase I did read it years ago) I amthinking, perhaps, that ignorance is bliss — and infinitely preferable
I had the same problem with Great Whites when I used to long-distance swim off the coast of Southern Africa. I thought if I learned more about them, I would feel more confident. Well. Not so. Had the inverse effect
Doesn’t Stephen live in your neck of the woods, BTW
Loreth Says:
Me too — LOVE the feel and smell of a book in my hand
