HAVE SHEIK, WILL TRAVEL

Yesterday I clicked on Alison Kent’s beautiful Japanese cover, which took me to the Amazon Japan site where, I discovered, I too have a Japanese edition !!
My sheik has now been translated — to my knowledge — into Icelandic, German, Spanish and Japanese. He’s been out in Australia and New Zealand, and he’s coming out in the UK. I also discovered yesterday that he’s been picked up for publication by Thorndike for release in a Spanish hard cover large print edition. My sheik has been getting around while I haven’t been looking
.

OSMOSIS

How else could he have known I was blogging about no fish for dinner?? Yep, I must confess, he did bring home the bacon … er, trout … from his expedition into the interior. AND my hero had to brave bullets to bag the fish — semi-automatic weapons, no less.
Guess that happens on a May long weekend if you happen to go fishing near a wilderness campsite maintained by the local rod and gun club … and brewery ;)
So … I am satisfied. For now

So I saw one!

Sorry … didn’t want to get closer. There was an incident in the skier’s parking lot today where a bear charged a guy. A security van happened to be passing by and drove between the bear and the man. Could have been Whistler’s first attack is what I am told. Will know more later.
I think this guy knew I was going to put him on my blog …. see bear run from Loreth :). Heh … now that’s power!!

CONNECTED

The view from my mum’s window today, somewhere on the southern tip of Africa – a fishing boat chugging to harbour, a train heading to the city, the season autumn, the ocean eerily calm. Say what you will about the Internet being a giant time sink hole (’cause it is :)) But I adore the way it connects us.

Looong road … looong run

And still many bridges to cross and many miles to go until D-Day
Sundays are BIG run days in the marathon training schedule, and some are just easier than others. This was not one :). I wanted to finish the rough draft of a synopsis before I laced up the runners, but by the time I was done, I had serious trouble actually booting myself out the door. My saving grace was DD #2 on her bike … my personal cheerleading squad, support crew, and photographer.
The first mile sucked big time. I felt like wood — thought I’d never make it. But then I thought of Meretta doing her run across the country somewhere, and I kept plodding … one foot after the other. We hit the hills (real easy to do in a ski resort ) and my knee started protesting. Found a better grade of incline, kept going. And by 19 kilometers or so … I was doing great!!! Just flying. Numb, but flying — in my mind, anyway. Probably resembled an old lady shuffling in reality. The lesson learned? Keep at it. Keep putting one foot in front of the other with your eye on the goal — and you can conquer those mental and physical barriers and blow through in the end. It’s an empowering exercise, one a day like today shows can work – both in writing and in running.
Oh …and those jeans are feeling just a little looser. Now THAT is a nice feeling
Happy weekend all.

HE WAS ONCE A FISHERMAN …
… and he brought home the dinner.
Now he’s a fisher. And it’s catch and release. C’mon … how PC must a man get? I like my hero to be hunter! I want a man who brings home the bacon … er, fish. Why put hooks into the poor creatures otherwise? Just so you can put them back and do it again?
And guess where he’s gone this long weekend? FISHING!!! What’s the point if he’s not bringing any home? Oh, wait, there is a point …. I get more writing time
:) :). And I love him even more when he gets back
My Path: Gee, I Like Your Pants (Seriously, someone in the municipality is naming trails in honor of Frank Zappa … and I know who it is ;))
My Time: I forgot to set the timer
My Beat: Frank Zappa. Kidding. It was the theme from Mortal Combat. Guess I was having another Bombshell moment.
