ROAD TRIP

VAN AERIAL.jpg

This is where I’ll be heading tomorrow. Got some errands to run in the ‘Big Smoke’ down south … athough there’s not much smoke about this city — real pretty for the most part.

That big lump of green is Stanley Park, and the buildings to the left of it, along the ocean-front, is the area my sister lives – as well as writing buddy  Kate Austin who just sold ANOTHER book to Harlequin’s NEXT line!!!! Congrats, Kate :) :) :).

Those snowcapped mountains to the north-east of the photo is where you’ll find my home, and those giant white sails in the forefront are where international liners bound for Alaska dock … it’s also where many of the ceremonies for the winter Olympics  will be held in 2010.

I have in mind two books I’d like to set in Vancouver…. mostly in the not-so-pretty parts of town. So some visual research is also in order — as is a visit to the BIG library. Oh heaven :).

I’ll post again probably on Wednesday. Until then ….

Great picture, Loreth! I’ve been many times but a bird’s eye view certainly puts it in perspective! Especially Stanley park. Take care. Travel safe and have fun at the BIG library. Oooh. Doesn’t that sound like fun!!!

    Congrats to Kate!!!

Very lovely photo! My husband and I met a couple from Vancouver in the hot tub on a Hawaii cruise this spring. Louie and Milla, the cutest darned couple I ever met. He was Czech and she was Phillipino. They’d been married forever. So sweet and funny. It’s such a small world sometimes, huh?

It looks chilly though. Not sure I could handle that. I’ve been spoiled by Hawaii. :)

Have a lovely time. I love Vancouver :)
    Congrats to Kate too! Wow!!!

  4. Toni Anderson Says:

PS. I didn’t realise Stanley Park was so big.

  5. meretta Says:

Vancouver? Chilly? Nope. They hardly ever dip below 0C.

But spoiled by Hawaii?? I’m guessing!!! Lynn, you lucky duck you. Do you want to do a time share swap with me? I live in Cold Lake in Northern Alberta and the temps only drop to -50C with the windchill. Don’t let that scare you though — you hardly feel it unless the cold sticks your nostrils together — no really — come baaaaack!!! ;D

Should clarify that that’s in the winter. In the summer we’re in a positively balmy range of 25-35C. Off course there are the bugs. Oops. I’d better shut it before the board of tourism comes and hauls me off to jail!

  7. Toni Anderson Says:

LOL–At least you have some hills don’t you Meretta? We have nothing but flat prairie for a thousand km west (maybe that’s an exageration but probably not much :) Although the Canadian shield is close to the East. Must try and get out there soon.
Whittering because of the heat. A bad sign!!!

  8. Loreth Says:

Thanks for visiting, Lynn :) You live in Hawaii AND get to go on cruises?? Sheesh ;)

LOL, Meretta. There’s tourism in Cold Lake??

  9. meretta Says:

OF COURSE!! People pay big bucks to come fishing here. Besides. There’s no sharks in our waters. Very safe! ;) There’s even some commercial fishing!
