Are there 32 ‘GREAT ROMANCES’ ?

Isabel Swift, Harelquin’s VP, Author & Asset Development, is looking for 32 great romances. From her blog:
“”Here is my challenge. While I am ensconsed in this lovely spot, eating amazing food, enjoying the conversation of most eclectic, facinating group of people—journalists, vintners, actors, filmakers, psychologists, writers, editors, pick an interesting profession, pick an interesting person, they are there—the gauntlet is thrown down. Are there 32 great romances? Could I come up with them? Would I be willing to contribute to a collection a fellow guest was compiling for a book? Well, things got a little heated there, but after the dust settled, I had convinced our hero (fellow guest and editor of book) that there were indeed at least 32 great romances and that I would try to pull something together for him in the tight time frame allotted. Now that I more fully understand my assignment, I must note that it is a total guy vision (competitive) but whatever. Need your suggestions of titles, authors, or where to look! “”
Any ideas? Head on over if you do…. I’m tending to think classic off the top, but I’m putting on the thinking cap (yes, I know, a scary thought
) ….. meanwhile, I think I’d like to be wherever it is that Isabel is
:)

Grant McDonough

FDS operative. Scottish. Straight up – like he drinks his whiskey, like he shoots his weapons. He kills smoothly. Smiles easily. Loves hard. Hates mind games. His dark secret? At age 19 Grant took the law into his own hands when the law failed his family. And he’s been on the run ever since.
Casting call — George Clooney
I’ve just received word that my online ‘Silhouette Romantic Suspense Daily’ online read will go live at eHarlequin starting with Chapter 1 on October 16!! This is Grant McDonough’s story. Grant is an FDS operative, one of my Shadow Soldier mercenaries, and for him and the woman he loves, this will truly be the … END GAME.
I hope the read — which will feature one new chapter per day — will give readers a little taste of what’s to come with my SHADOW SOLDIERS trilogy, also launching that month
Grant also makes a re-appearance in the third book in the series — RULES OF RE-ENGAGEMENT.
And to win a copy of the first book in the trilogy — THE HEART OF A MERCENARY check out my August Contest.

EAGLE EYE

“Eagles come in all shapes and sizes, but you will recognize them chiefly by their attitudes.” — E. F. SCHUMACHER
This guy may be carved from wood but he still has attitude. I guess the owner of this totem pole does, too. It looms over his private property along the lake — a property that boasts a full-size ice arena. You know, so the kids can keep their hockey skills ship shape? :).
When I ran under the eagle’s watchful eye while training for last year’s marathon, his wood was a just-carved pale gold. But his demeanor has darkened now, and I am reminded of time passing. Leaves are turning, too. And today the wind carried a portent of something to come. Exhilarating, beautiful day, but one that saw me playing catch-up with chores … And catch-up with my long run.
And tomorrow will be more chores, like a family visit to the dentist and grocery shopping. No writing. But I’m actually enjoying cleaning the slate — along with the house
– with the promise of starting something fresh.
I am also, finally, looking forward to Fall.
My Path: Rainbow, Meadow Park, Lost Lake
My Distance: 22 kilometres.
My Beat: River Deep, Mountain High - Tina Turner

Victoria Marathon — 40 days to go!!
Honolulu Marathon — 103 days to go.

BEWARE OF MAN BEARING HARNESS …

… and wearing funny helmet ;). Just spells ‘relaxation,’ doesn’t it?
I’m recovered today, though. Spine is back in alignment, and after sending off my online read submission, I took a good long walk in the sunshine … and then SLEPT THE REST OF THE DAY! Gawd, I don’t remember when I last did that. I must be getting old(er). But I feel fabulous. Sleep is way underrated
Also got my Five Peaks time today, and discovered I didn’t do that badly after all. I placed 13th, which is not saying a hell of a lot, because there aren’t that many woman in their 40s who do the enduro race. Still, being in the middle of the pack for my second trail run ever suits me just fine, thank you :). And judging by the other times, I wasn’t the only one who suffered. It was a tough haul for most. I think it was the heat, the altitude, and the rapid elevation gain combined.
And I do this …. why?
I think I need to meditate on that one a bit. Why DO we do things like this?
Victoria Marathon — 41 days to go!!
Honolulu Marathon — 104 days to go.
And don’t forget my Contest. August is almost over. And thank you to everyone who has entered so far — I will announce the winner here on Thursday.

DON’T MENTION IT !!!!!

Sooo, I had a rib out, and a sore neck because of it . I badly needed some R&R after my alpine run yesterday, the kids were out of town, and I just happened to mention to DH that I had the day off. Nuff said.
This was HIS idea of rest and relaxation!
Did I mention that you gather speed and travel 70 miles an hour, hanging 250 feet above tress, and sort of crash at the end? Well, now I REALLY need to see a physio. My lesson?
Don’t mention to DH that I need R.E.S.T!!!!!!
(I think this just might have been payback for registering him in the Five Peaks yesterday … hah, I shall have vengeance yet
)
