EAGLE EYE

“Eagles come in all shapes and sizes, but you will recognize them chiefly by their attitudes.” — E. F. SCHUMACHER
This guy may be carved from wood but he still has attitude. I guess the owner of this totem pole does, too. It looms over his private property along the lake — a property that boasts a full-size ice arena. You know, so the kids can keep their hockey skills ship shape? :).
When I ran under the eagle’s watchful eye while training for last year’s marathon, his wood was a just-carved pale gold. But his demeanor has darkened now, and I am reminded of time passing. Leaves are turning, too. And today the wind carried a portent of something to come. Exhilarating, beautiful day, but one that saw me playing catch-up with chores … And catch-up with my long run.
And tomorrow will be more chores, like a family visit to the dentist and grocery shopping. No writing. But I’m actually enjoying cleaning the slate — along with the house
– with the promise of starting something fresh.
I am also, finally, looking forward to Fall.

LOL at the skating arena. If you’ve got the money, I guess you’ve got to spend it somehow, hmmm?
Fall is a great time. Brisk, fresh air. Beautiful leaves. No blackflies or mosquitoes. VBG. Potential abounds.
Good job on that long run. 22 km is no sneeze in the park!
And best of luck with your new project!!

Lovely eagle. I saw a stuffed Golden Eagle in Kelvingrove art gallery today. Magestic and huge, but I find there’s a real indignity to stuff beings…not my thing.
I am so looking forward to being home–and fall will be lovely.
I am looking forward to doing some writing, to sending my kids off 3 days a week and really getting stuck into work.
22km?? OMG…I’ll faint now
Have fun
