the exuberance of youth

img_4296.JPG

You think they were just a leeetle bit happy to be coming home for the weekend? Maybe?

That would be DD#2 (right) and friend on the ferry over to the mainland from Vancouver Island. Sometimes there’s just not enough space to contain her :)

I’m elbow deep in paint prep etc, and have ‘before’ pics to show. I’m trying to paint and move during writing breaks which is … er … challenging. I’ll need a few days, I think, before I can talk craft and books again coherently. Which means my contest info is not up yet.

Basically, I will be sponsoring the winner with a one-year membership to RWA — either a renewal or first-time sign up, OR, I will be giving away a six-month subscription to the Harlequin/Silhouette imprint of the winner’s choice – from Mira, to HQN, to Silhouette Romantic Suspense, to Blaze etc. (The winner gets to choose between either the books or the RWA membership, so hopefully there is something in there for both readers and writers). There will also be a special Christmas bonus prize in December.

But in order to avoid any confusion, I want to make sure I have all the details down on a web page before I tell you how to play ;).

The actual contest will start October 1, and last for the three-month run of my SHADOW SOLDIERS trilogy with the winner being announced in December. There will also be a special Christmas bonus prize in the month of December.

My Path: Lost Lake Park, Fitzsimmons

My Distance: Almost two hours

My Beat: Jump … for my love. Pointer Sisters

Victoria Marathon — 20 days to go!!

Honolulu Marathon — 85 days to go.

Can you see it?

fresh-snow.JPG

Fresh snow above the green valley. Unfortunately my camera has a way of flattening the mountains out, so they lose something of their majesty here.

My weekend ended up way busier than I anticipated, so I have not managed to catch up with my blog and contest, but hopefully all will be back in order tomorrow. Or not ;). I’m in the midst of reno’s, re-painting, moving rooms, relocating my office, and it’s a bit of a logistical nightmare to keep working and to keep my computer connected and functional at the same time …. so if I do disappear from cyberspace tomorrow, it’ll be because I screwed up the reconnection …  and our home network system.

Hope everyone else had a good, and productive weekend.

SEPTEMBER SNOW

morning-mist.jpg

The morning mists parted to reveal our first snow in the alpine today. And it was almost cold enough this morning to get it down in the valley. The trees haven’t even turned fully. Will try and get a photo tomorrow.

My Distance: 48:46 mins

My Beat: Sing a Little Song — Desmond Decker

Victoria Marathon — 24 days to go!!

PS — Seeing my October book is already being spotted out and about in a few States, I will announce details of my new contest tomorrow :)

THE MAN WITH THE … BIG GUN

daniel_craig__james_215681g.jpg

Swoon. I just saw this review on Lee Goldberg’s blog:

“ There’s a new trailer for CASINO ROYALE and it lays to rest any doubts that Daniel Craig can play Bond or that the producers were serious about rebooting the franchise. The last vestiges of the Roger Moore years seem to be completely erased.  Bond is once again the young,  lethal assassin from DR. NO and FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE.  I liked the Pierce Brosnan Bonds, though they seemed like a compromise between the Connery and Moore versions of 007. CASINO ROYALE is definitely a throwback to the Connery interpretation. It looks like this movie could be the best Bond film since GOLDFINGER… (though the bad guy’s scarred eye is a little too reminiscent of Donald Pleasance in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE). I can’t wait to see it.”

NEITHER CAN I!!! I am a total die-hard Sean Connery Bond fan. Plus I love Daniel Craig’s acting. Ah … all is good with the world.

Then again … I have still not received my author copies for HEART OF THE MERCENARY. Yet I hear that those ordered online are already being delivered. My profound apologies to anyone waiting for a review copy – I will be making advance copies for the next ones.

THE COVER IS HERE …

0373275161.jpg

A man back from the dead.

 A madman on the loose.

One woman who will change everything.

He should be dead. That was what Olivia Killinger thought when her former fiancé appeared at her door sixteen years after his “death.” Now Jacques Sauvage was asking for her help to bring down a deadly syndicate—which was led by her own father. Olivia had never stopped loving Jacques, but how could she trust the man? She knew he needed her help…but did he also want to reignite the passion that had once burned between them?

Three men. One mission. Only love can save them.

Book three of the SHADOW SOLDIERS trilogy.
