S’NO END IN SIGHT

The view down my street. And if anyone is tired of snow pics … um, imagine living here? ;). But the good news is the mountains are officially open for skiing this weekend … and for a ski resort, that solid precipitation really is White Gold.
And I found a little trick to keeping me running until Hawaii …

Yaktraxs — the pro model. They are AWESOME! I can totally recommend these to anyone who has to walk or run on snow or ice.
In between playing in the snow, I am writing my chapter a day. Honest.

PINEAPPLE EXPRESS …STEAMS INTO TOWN

A wet and windy front straight from the balmy shores of Hawaii powered into the mountains this morning. Which meant … bad stuff.
Trees went down. Live power lines hit the road. Electricity was cut. Cars smashed. The highway was shut all day. And the temperature shot above freezing … which turned the dumping snow into rain, tons and tons of rain, which fell on top of an already-huge melting snowpack with nowhere to go … which means floods.
Which means we have a pump trying to shunt water out of our crawlspace tonight as fast as it is rising.
But I did light a fire, and candles, make coffee on a gas camp stove, and I curled up to write with good old fashioned pen and paper — by the hearth. While weather waged ugly war with the world outside. All in all … not a bad day.

THERE ARE NO SECRETS IN THE SNOW

We have a night prowler :). Until it began to snow, we never knew he walked around the house each night.
Now I find myself waking up at all hours of the night and peering into the dark for a glimpse of him. As if I didn’t need my sleep or something ….

SNOW BABY
DD#1 — my Big Baby – in town for a visit during university reading break. She’s a snow baby, too
And an excerpt from a new review by Carolyn Crisher at Romance Reviews Today .
“In RULES OF RE-ENGAGEMENT, Loreth Anne White has once again pulled out all the stops in writing an action packed novel. Even after sixteen years, Olivia and Jacques have not forgotten their love for each other, and the delicate touch of reawakening love between them takes great skill. The men who want to destroy the United States and an assassin who returns add to the strings that must be knit together, and her deft hand at bringing all the pieces together is truly masterly.
Secondary characters include Samuel Killinger, a man who wants to wield power, and other members of the FDS. But it’s mainly Olivia and Jacques who must weather the storms of their long ago love, kidnapping, and the bracelet of death on Olivia’s wrist. RULES OF RE-ENGAGEMENT ends the Shadow Soldiers series with a wild and exciting story.
There are two previous Shadow Soldiers books featuring the FDS: THE HEART OF A MERCENARY (October 2006) and A SULTAN’S RANSOM (November 2006). RULES OF RE-ENGAGEMENT can be read alone, but it is meant to be read as part of the series. If suspense, danger, and intense relationships that can survive many years apart is just the thing for you, enjoy RULES OF RE-ENGAGEMENT this month. ”
Thank you Carolyn!!!. The full review goes live on the Romance Reviews Today site December 1.

IT’S A SIGN …

Hmmm … can you spot the tracks? I’m thinking I should take this as a sign that I should have traded the running shoes for skis about now. I’m having to run in gaiters as it is. And dry my shoes over the heater each night. Not ideal training ground for the Honolulu
I have my looong run to complete tomorrow and there is more snow in the forecast …. I foresee very numb toes.
And … I am writing a book set in a tropical climate right now. I know, I know …. excellent sense of timing. Which is why it is a GOOD thing I am going to Hawaii in a few weeks …..
