Regular programming will resume February 15 – once I’ve turned my new novel in. Please stay tuned ….
I also want to think about the reasons I blog. There are as many reasons out there for posting daily into cyberspace as there are authors. Take JA Konrath and Tess Gerritsen’s arguments, for example.
I don’t subscribe to Konrath’s view, and I do believe I know what my motivations are — but I want to return with clear focus.
Can you say in once sentence why you blog?

Toni Anderson Says:
Good question. Mine started as a way of keeping in touch with family, except my family never read it. And then it replaced my journal as a way of plotting out my thoughts, goals and life.
Basically, I blog because it makes me accountable to myself.
Have a great break–I think everyone should take a few weeks off blogging every so often, to recharge their batteries.
Bailey Stewart Says:
You might as well ask me why I breathe. I think I’m more like Tess Gerritsen, the isolation – blogging as a form of catharsis, connection.
I know, one sentence – but I never play by the rules.
If you go by Konrath’s view, then why write anything – it will all come back to you. But I do think it’s a combination of the two. Name recognition is why I switched to the pen name. Getting my name out there, building up a pre-published readership, etc.
We’ll miss you.
Diane Says:
My blog is my daily-ish journal about my writing and personal life, and it keeps me in touch with my friends and family, who are all scattered.

I just love reading blogs, i dont have one myself. I love the snow scenes. As i look out the window its grey sky with a little blue, its a lovely day though.

Peggy Says:
Good question. I’m not sure anymore. At first it was because it was fun. Now, it just feels like an obligation and the fun is all gone. But it does keep me in touch with the writing world—my only source really. And it isn’t too overwhelming like some writing loops. So I guess that’s why I blog.
Lis Says:
I agree with Bailey, its a form of connecting with others.
