CAN YOU SEE IT?
The teensy candle of bright yellow near the base of the tree? An emerging skunk cabbage lily — the first sign of spring. This means the bears will be waking. The hardy skunk cabbage is among the first available food for the season for the bruins. Soon these wetlands will be abalze with yellow — very pretty, and pretty skunky as the plants mature.
Somehow I feel like winter happened while I was working.
Must. Pay. More. Attention.

Meretta Says:
LOL. We have no water in our area, only ice and snow. I don’t suspect we’ll see any for awhile yet either.
And while we have no skunk cabbage emerging, our skunks are done hibernating. Just as Barky Dog. She’ll tell you all about it!
Toni Anderson Says:
LOL–we had the odd drop of thaw, only to be frozen solid again by wicked temps. But by the end of the week they are giving postive temps!!!
It looks like it smells good, that photo
Watch out for those bears
I wonder what will emerge first in my garden?
Loreth Says:
Oy — at least we don’t have skunks. Some raccoons, but no skunks. They’re very cute to look at though
