GREEN
St. Patrick’s day is a poignant anniversary for me since I lost my dad on this day, when I was 16. This photo is in his honor — he was a keen fly fisherman, and he would have loved to fish the rivers of New Zealand, where this pic was recently snapped.
Funny that my hubby has developed the passion for the sport. My grandfather was also a fly fishing fanatic who adored exploring the rivers of Africa. It’s in the family, for sure. This was sent to dh by a fishing buddy … to make us green. It worked
NZ is on the holiday dream list. A pair of waders for me is now on the shopping list.
And there I was dreaming about Cuba …. or Jamaica …. or …

Hi Loreth! You’d love New Zealand. I had the privilege of living there for a year and it was awesome. The people are very friendly, though they have difficulty with the concept of Canada’s size. One woman got irate with me that I didn’t know her son in Toronto, even when I tried to explain that I’d never been here and it was 3000 kms away! And during their summer, the weather has to be comparable to Cuba and Jamaica and there are some pretty nice beaches. I spent Christmas Day on one, eating cold turkey. That was odd.
Meretta Says:
Hugs to you, dear friend. I would have liked to met the man that helped raise such a wonderful person.
NZ is on our dream holiday list, too. Do they have bears?
Meretta Says:
GORGEOUS picture, btw.
Toni Anderson Says:
Ah yes, NZ is on my wish list too
Hope you had a nice day full of happy memories. I have waders. Actually these days I only have thigh waders, which is kind of dominatrix rubber
Good for the flooding garage… we are forecats +10C on Wednesday. -16C on Tuesday?
Loreth Says:
Ah, Sheryll — you’ve sold me!!!
Lol @ the waders, Toni. Not so long ago I was looking at coroners stats for BC/Canada and was startled to see so many “death by waders” recorded.
No bears — not sure whether that’s good or bad. I’m kinda fond of my bears
I do, however, like the notion of fishing without watching your back … but then there’s those waders to worry about …
Anna Lucia Says:
LOL – we have to stop channelling each other, Loreth! I blogged about Green today…
Toni Anderson Says:
Waders are very dangerous. I once contemplated throwing myself into a deep waterfall pool in my waders or facing three hungry black bears. The bears won.
