A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE
Inspiration for Broken Claw.
I can’t believe it’s been a month! MANHUNTER — the first in my Wild Country series for Silhouette Romantic Suspense is still on the shelf for a day, or three. Maybe.
And today, another review, this one from CK2s Kwips and Kritiques.
“MANHUNTER is the sort of headlong rush that doesn’t stop until the very end. The action in this edge of your seat thriller is both fast and furious, with nary a dull moment. I just couldn’t put this book down!
Loreth Anne White pits man against beast both metaphorically and literally. Not only are Gabe and Silver defending against a serial killer, but both have their own inner demons to fight. And let’s not forget Broken Claw! Loreth Anne White does a beautiful job at depicting the inner struggles of her characters as she takes readers on a journey that is sometimes dark, definitely chilling, but with that bright rainbow of hope and happiness at the end. Highly recommended!”
Thank you, Debbie!

“one hot, sexy, bad-ass, this guy…”

A new MANHUNTER review:
This one from Shannon Stacy: “I don’t do book reviews on my blog as a rule. I pretty much suck at them, with no ability to articulate what I like or don’t like about a book. But I’m going to try.
This might be the best romantic suspense I’ve read in a long time—single title OR category.
There is a LOT packed in this book—it’s scary, atmospheric, emotional, romantic…the whole works. So much depth and detail about the remote Yukon area and the people are given without bogging down the tension or the pacing, and the use of the setting is simple incredible. And this Mountie is not the Mountie we normally (and unfortunately) see the American media protraying. He is one hot, sexy, bad-ass, this guy. Both of their backstories are incredibly compelling, as is the villain. I had a couple of “oh, no she won’t” moments and oh, yes she did, which just sucked me in further.
… this book is wicked freakin’ awesome! It’s the whole package …. more here”
Thank you Shannon!

GETTING TO THE EDGE …

It was on a hot run in August, post RWA San Francisco, when the idea for TO THE EDGE hit me. I had been invited by Adrienne Maintosh to come up with an idea for an eHarlequin Daily Online Read, and was turning some ideas over in my head as I jogged. Then across Green Lake I saw Edgewater Lodge, hulking between the conifers, and a hunting lodge in a remote region of Alaska was born — it would belong to RCMP Constable Annie Lavalle’s grandfather, a man she’d never met. A man she never even knew existed. And it would be in the Bush region of that state, a last frontier of a last frontier. Totally isolated. And the only way in would be by plane.

A trot further down my running path revealed the plane that would take Annie into Wild Country. And suddenly I was there, in Alaska, and I could see my Mountie heroine stepping onto the tippy dock …

To the Edge — Chapter 1 goes live on eHarlequin
by Loreth Anne White
Canadian RCMP Constable Annie Lavalle has searched for her biological family all her life. So when a mysterious call comes from a man claiming to be her grandfather, she is compelled to travel to the remote Alaskan Bush to meet him.
But when she gets there, she’s greeted by the threat of an impending snow storm and an ominous, eerily quiet landscape.
Not by her grandfather. Or anyone else.
And when she enters her grandfather’s hunting lodge, what she finds will take her into a deadly battle with a notorious Cold War assassin, to the crucible of her darkest fears…and into the arms of the equally dangerous mercenary Joshua Kane….

THE ROMANCE READER reveiws MANHUNTER

From The Romance Reader:
“White does a terrific job of creating vivid and memorable characters, and a better job of placing them in a unique and richly described setting. Not only is this particular setting rarely used by writers, but also the attention given to the natural habitat of animal, both as hunter and prey takes this romance novel out of the ordinary.
Gabe and Silver both have emotional baggage, but in a very realistic manner the author uses their angst to fashion them as individuals. Manhunter is a refreshing departure from the ever-growing norm, which makes a memorable and interesting read.”
