GETTING TO THE EDGE …
It was on a hot run in August, post RWA San Francisco, when the idea for TO THE EDGE hit me. I had been invited by Adrienne Maintosh to come up with an idea for an eHarlequin Daily Online Read, and was turning some ideas over in my head as I jogged. Then across Green Lake I saw Edgewater Lodge, hulking between the conifers, and a hunting lodge in a remote region of Alaska was born — it would belong to RCMP Constable Annie Lavalle’s grandfather, a man she’d never met. A man she never even knew existed. And it would be in the Bush region of that state, a last frontier of a last frontier. Totally isolated. And the only way in would be by plane.
A trot further down my running path revealed the plane that would take Annie into Wild Country. And suddenly I was there, in Alaska, and I could see my Mountie heroine stepping onto the tippy dock …
